Pull out a hair and pull it TIGHTLY against the rock then hold it in the flame of a lighter. If it's jade the hair will not burn. The reason is that the jade draws the heat by the hair, whereas other stones would reflect the heat back allowing the hair to burn. The smother the jade the better, polish if possible. Jade is not just one kind.There are many varities and qualitys, so it's impossible to tell value from here.
