I believe that jade is good luck and have been wanting to buy a jade bangle bracelet for years now but I’m afraid to get ripped off because I don’t know exactly how to tell whether it’s real jade or not. I checked in China Town but we all know that they’re known for their knock-offs.
Can someone please help me?
I would recommend buying from a reputable jewellery shop. Or if buy elsewhere, make sure you can return it, then take it to another jeweller to verify its authenticity.
Compared to many other gemstones, jade is not super expensive, which means the chances of finding genuine jade compared to fakes is a little higher.

If you compare fake jade and real jade, you will notice two things: color and weight. Fake jade is almost is almost always flimsy or a wrong color. Real jade is pretty heavy and has a mixed color. It should be light in color. Fake jade is sometimes too swirly. Real jade you will notice is usually rough and generally not polished. Sometimes if you come across some jade deep in color do not think it is fake. Check the weight and the jade should not be transparent in any way.
