when the soil is starting to look dry I wait about 5 more days. jade plants are a succulent and can store water in it’s leaves and stems. You can also feel the outer leaves and if the are getting a little soft give them a little water. I usually give them a good drink and wait a week or two. They are best grown in a clay pot as the pot breathes and lets the soil dry out. If it is full sun the leaves or tips will turn a bright red and start flowering. You will have to watch the water as it will need a little more. This is a favorite plant for herds of elephants. They grab the plant with their trunks and rip and tear it out of the ground., and by doing so it drops hundreds of leaves to the ground where the leaves send out roots to make sure the Jade survives. This is a small source of water and food for the elephants. Also makes a beautiful bonsai
