My jade plant is sitting in the sun on my patio and looks like it’s dying?

normal person asked:

Are Jade plants meant to be in the sun, it’s a rather large sized plant as well.

not all plants like direct sun light, you should find a place for it in the house.

Jades aren’t necessarily full sun plants. They do better if shielded from the heat of the day sun. And don’t overwater it, they are very easy to kill by drowning them.

  • Thealoexpert:

Not really jades prefer do be in bright light but not direct sunlight so what you can do is move the jade tree in a window that gets bright light and leave it there and in about a week to two weeks it should be back to it’s normal color.

If you are in California it may survive outside, but in a lot of the country it must be inside in the winter. Don’t overwater it. It could be sunburned, mine has gotten sunburned outside in past years. They come back though, if you remove unhealthy looking leaves. You can do a bit of pruning on them to influence the way they grow. Schultz makes a cactus and succulent food that you just put in the water when you water them.

I would place it somewhere where it gets indirect or filtered sunlight. Full sun is too much for a jade plant.

Don’t know if this helps, but I drowned mine I’m sure. I didn’t know at the time they would do that. I had it in indirect light.
